Try to carry as little as possible, use credit cards whenever possible, and retrieve money with an ATM card as needed. ATMs are everywhere and allow you to retrieve money in increments similar to those in the U.S. Always having some travelers checks on hand is a good idea too, since you can recover the money if they’re lost or stolen.
